Welcome!
I’m a practicum student, graduating from Yorkville’s Master of Counselling Psychology program. I found my way to studying counselling through my own grief experience and know firsthand how it can change everything in one’s life. Throughout my training I’ve found a lot of satisfaction through volunteering and participating in grief and bereavement groups at my local hospice where learning to listen with compassion and kindness helped to form my therapeutic skills. I’m endlessly curious about people and how we make sense of the world around us.
My own journey encompasses a wide variety of life experiences including changes in employment (from farmer to chef!), both a beautiful & complex family history, the joys of parenting children and the complex losses of abortion & hysterectomy. Throughout this winding path I’ve discovered that it’s okay to not be okay, and we all have our own brand of functioning behaviours. Most of us are doing the best we can in the difficult circumstances we face but taking the time for self-discover can help us to find more of the peace we are looking for.
I pull from Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and person-centred frameworks. I have had a lifelong relationship with mindfulness and silent mediation that I appreciate bringing into sessions.
I’d be glad to walk alongside you on your journey forward.
